Webinar – Cybersecurity for the Public Good

Tuesday, 27 October 2026 | Online | 15:00–16:00 CET (Time to be confirmed)

Cybersecurity shapes far more than the technology we use. It influences our workplaces, public services, access to information and, increasingly, the choices we make in everyday life. But discussions about cybersecurity often focus on protecting systems and organisations. What happens when we widen the lens and ask how security and privacy can serve the people?

For Cybersecurity Awareness Month, WEM Cyber is inviting Annika Wägenbauer, Founder & Strategic Partner at Cybersecurity Redefined, for a conversation about cybersecurity beyond organisational boundaries. How cybersecurity can be used to address challenges that affect people, communities and society more broadly?

Drawing on her own experience and practical examples, Annika will explore where cybersecurity, privacy and the public interest meet, and what professionals in the field can contribute beyond their technical roles.

This first WEM Cyber webinar is open to anyone interested in the topic — students, researchers and professionals from cybersecurity and beyond. It is also an invitation to people who might not usually see themselves as part of the cybersecurity conversation.
You’re very welcome to join us!

The talk will be followed by an open Q&A with Annika, with plenty of room for questions and discussion.
