WEM Cyber (Widening Excellence and Mentoring in Cybersecurity) is a Horizon Europe-funded project that supports women in cybersecurity through international secondments, mentorship, coaching, and tailored training.
WEM Cyber secondments are open to women researchers and other R&I personnel, including administrative, managerial, and technical staff who support research and innovation activities within consortium partner organisations and affiliated entities.
WEM Cyber is designed for participants with varying levels of expertise. A skills assessment is conducted before each secondment to understand your technical and soft skills profile, and your personalised development plan is built from there. You do not need to be a senior expert to apply.
You will join the day-to-day work of your host organisation, following agreed goals and milestones set out in your personalised development plan. Expected outputs include contributions to research activities, papers, or methodologies, depending on your profile and the host organisation's focus.
Participants are matched with experienced cybersecurity professionals through the Women4Cyber Foundation mentorship programme. Mentors provide personal and professional guidance throughout the project. The programme prioritises women mentors from widening countries and runs alongside the secondment experience.
Each participant receives at least two technical training sessions and one soft skills session, based on a skills assessment completed before the secondment begins. Training covers areas including entrepreneurship, digital tools, and intellectual property management. All sessions are recorded and made available through the WEM Cyber knowledge transfer platform.
Subscribe to the WEM Cyber newsletter and follow us on LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook to receive updates on secondment calls, mentorship cohort openings, events, and project milestones as they are announced.
